The Cruickshank Room was renovated in 2023, following a devastating flood. At that time it was named after Gordon Cruickshank, a previous and longstanding Trustee of the hall, and who built the original bar counter.
The room has a modern bar counter, glass storage and optics brackets, glass wash and hand wash sinks, and a good-sized display fridge. Also small hifi system that plays CDs, and a 3.5mm jack for connecting to mp3 players, phones or bluetooth dongle. There is bench seating along two sides of the room, a bar with stools under the window, and wooden pub-style tables and chairs. The room can seat up to 25 people comfortably (a few more at a squeeze). Music events which take place in the old hall will usually offer a bar service in the Cruickshank Room, and many larger productions located in the main hall will still have a bar in the Cruickshank Room.
The Cruickshank Room is suitable for a variety of occasions, being a cosy and inviting space. Aside from being used as an actual bar, it is often employed for food service for small parties and family celebrations. It is also a good size for medium-sized meetings or business gatherings, when refreshments can be served from the bar counter.
